Expressions of interest for Energy Masters are open now. To be eligible for consideration as one of the 500 Energy Masters households you must:

    Energy Masters eligibility
  • be over 18 years of age
  • own and live in a detached or semi-detached house that is connected to the SA Power Networks distribution network
  • be named on the electricity bill, or be responsible for or contribute to the cost of the electricity bill
  • be willing to have a home energy management system installed by MAC Trade Services in your switchboard, free of charge
  • have an active and stable Wi-Fi connection in your home
  • have or be willing to have a smart electricity meter installed at your house
  • have an electric resistive or heat pump hot water system at your house, or be willing to have an electric heat pump system installed
  • be willing to participate in research on your energy use for up to 18 months
  • be willing to trial flexible import and export limits (via a flexible network connection) for your home electricity
  • be willing to provide access to your energy usage data and share personal details regarding your household, for the purposes of the research, and
  • not have anyone living in your household with a medical condition that relies on continuous supply of electricity to run critical medical equipment.

To be eligible for consideration as a Priority household, you must meet the above criteria, as well as any one of the following criteria:

  • Hold a Commonwealth Government pensioner concession card
  • Hold a TPI Gold Repatriation Health Card
  • Hold a War Widows Gold Repatriation Health Card
  • Hold a Gold Repatriation Health Card (EDA)
  • Hold a Health Care Card (including a Low-Income Health Care Card)
  • Receive the South Australian government energy bill concession
  • Be actively participating in an energy retailer hardship program
  • Be actively participating in an energy retailer’s payment plan (offered and applied as per section 50 of the National Energy Retail Law)
  • Have received a referral from a registered member of the South Australian Financial Counsellors Association (SAFCA)
